Every beginning has its difficulties. Whether you are a freshman in your city or in another city, the difficulties you face are pretty much the same. You are going to face many challenges. Your friends will be change, your program will be change and you will not be the same after your studies. Apart from the financial issue, let’s look at the pros and cons of studying in your city compared to studying in another city.

No need to move out.

You can ask for your parents help anytime you need it.

You will not lose your old friends because of your move in a distant city.

You know the city’s hangouts.

You will not have to take care of a new home.

The distances to and from school maybe lengthy.
Studying in another city.

You are about to discover a new city.

You will make new acquaintances.

You will learn how to live alone.

You will learn to cook or alternatively you will visit all of the fast food restaurants in your area.

You will take on all responsibilities from what medicines you should have at home, to where is the closest store to pay your bills.
I will never forget my first time at the University. Stranger among strangers and full of ignorance of who I am and where I am going. I felt happy when I realized that I wasn’t alone but all freshmen were feeling exactly the same. It is normal not knowing where is the amphitheater, who is the professor where is the secretariat, etc. These are things you will learn in time.
As for the friendships, they will change and its difficult to remain friends with the people you first met. You will never be alone and even if you will, this state will not remain for a long period of time. The university offers a variety of activities so keep your eyes open in order to discover new and interesting things. From traditional dances, photography sections, choirs and theater to sports and art workshops.
The freshmen life does not include only reading, lectures and exams. It also consists of fun and entertainment. The faster you manage to match these patchy pieces of the same puzzle the fullest you will come back after 4-5 years of study.
Having lived those situations, I have to say that there are many positives and negatives to both. But certainly if I had to choose again, I would pick a city away from mine. New experiences, new people, and the sense that you are the master of your life.
